Day 70

We've been busy doing summer.  Just thought I'd stop by and say hello.  We still have about 2 weeks until school starts.  I'm caught off guard every time I see first day of school pics on Facebook.  We are still in definite summer mode around here.

There are signs of the summer coming to an end though.  Our evenings are spent at the football practice field.  We need to hire another parent to be able to manage the three different football teams and their schedules.

I can't stop hearing about the West Nile Virus and EEE.  I'm not sure which is worse, covering my kids in toxic bug spray or taking a chance on meeting up with an infected mosquito.  Like I don't already have enough to worry about with the threat of Lyme disease, concussions, and childhood obesity.  Now they have to throw mosquito diseases at me too.

Once again, I think I've waited too long to shop for school supplies.  The Target back to school section is decimated.  The Halloween decorations will be out if I don't get over there soon.

We have had much success on our to do list this summer.  But we still have a few to go.  A few exciting things have happened.  My 11 year old became a 12 year old.  My 10 year old became and 11 year old.  And my 4 1/2 year old became a 5 1/2 year old with one knock of a courtroom gavel and just like that, we're registered for kindergarten.  Good news all around.  Here are some very poor quality iphone pics of our adoption finalization.

We also hosted a party at our house for local families with Ethiopia connections.  Busy summer schedules and a terribly rainy day kept most people away.  But a few hardy souls managed to attend.  We'll try again next summer and hope for much better weather.

Lots more to tell about our summer, but my quiet mommy time pass has expired for the day, so this will have to do for now.

  1. So glad you re-aged her. She is definitely ready for Kindergarten. And now she and Ayub will be in the same class.
